The Face Collective Product Guide For Acne Or Oily Skin

The Face Collective Product Guide For Acne Or Oily Skin
We can all relate to experiencing acne or oily skin at some point during our skin journey. The products and treatments applied to our skin to treat acne or oily skin directly impact the way the skin reacts and our future skin journey.

Often, we select products through trial and error which means there is a risk that your skin environment could actually worsen if you haven’t selected products and treatments with the right ingredients.

We’ll cover our recommendations for at home care products for acne or oily skin in this blog. These contain the important active ingredients that help to provide the support required for these acneic or oily skin types.

The importance of active ingredients & your skin care routine

The importance of cosmeceutical products in your skin care routine cannot be understated. These products contain active ingredients that have been studied and assessed for their efficacy treating skin concerns.

Your skin routine is so important; however, it doesn't need to be complex. The most important part of skincare routines, is the consistency of it, particularly when treating more stubborn skin conditions like acne, pigmentation and hormonal conditions. A simple routine can work wonders, provided the right ingredients are being used.

For acneic skins or those suffering with breakouts, we recommend the following products

  1. Medik8 Clarity Peptides
This is lightweight cream that contains zinc & niacinamide which aid in the repair of the skin where breakouts have left post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Great to use as part of your evening skin routine.

  2. Dermaceutic Foamer 5
This foaming cleanser contains 5% glycolic acid. It is gentle enough to use daily and also contains enoxolone which is an ingredient that leaves the skin feeling hydrated after cleansing. This cleanser can be used morning and night.

  3. Dermaceutic Mask 15
An at home clay-based treatment mask that also contains glycolic acid, we recommend using this mask to refresh your skin once a week to reduce oil and breakouts.

  4. Medik8 Blemish Control Pads
These face cleaning pads provide that extra support to your skin with 2% salicylic acid to help clarify your skin. The salicylic acid is lipophilic which means that it is absorbed into your skin and ensures the active ingredient travels down into the pore and removes excess oil.

  5. Dermaceutic Dual+
The holy grail! Contains a potent combination of azelaic acid, potassium azeloyl diglycinate, hexylresorcinol and alpha-arbutin. Dual+ is an anti-blemish serum that actively works on breakouts and any post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

  6. Dermaceutic Actibiome
In addition to glycolic acid and salicylic acid, this product also has a microbiota regulator in it, which helps to regulate the bacteria on the skin.

  7. Medik8 Crystal Retinal
Retinol is an important ingredient in helping with acne or oily skin.  It regulates oil flow in the skin, increases cell turnover and aids in post inflammatory hyper pigmentation and post inflammatory erythema. Retinal is a molecularly more stable product than Retinol, and delivers results faster.

  8. Medik8 Press & Clear is a 2% salicylic solution that is applied to the skin like a toner and is gentle enough to be used daily.

Wrapping up

Selecting products that contain the right active ingredients to help with your particular skin environment is really important in results driven skin care. It can be extremely beneficial to discuss your specific skin requirements with a professional skin specialist as this will help to inform you on the best suited products for your skin type.
